After competing at the highest level of sports car racing, winning an LMP1 race at only the third attempt and consistently building a reliable car, Beechdean Mansell Motorsports has decided to draw breath and reconsider its options for 2011.

The team started the season as the Zytek Factory backed LMP1 team and there were high hopes of strong development for the car. A difficult start to the season for the cars development resulted in losing the advantage of early season testing and missing rounds of the LMS Championship. Through the teams hard work with the car, a great result at Hungary was achieved and a very strong showing at Silverstone.

It was then decided that after a challenging first season, but a great team effort in the last two races, there would be a review of the teams focus. Part of this review is the sale of the LMP1 car.  Beechdean Mansell Motorsport is looking to work with partners in the future who can support the potential generated in the 2010 season.

Nigel Mansell: “The promised support never materialised from the manufacturer.   The team did a great job, despite having many more challenges than it should have.  Without manufacturers support however at this high level of racing we have to re-evaluate everything.  I would like to echo the thanks and support we have had from our sponsors and friends in 2010.”

Andrew Howard: ”Considering that we only started the team in January this year I think its incredible what we have. achieved both on the track and off it.  2010 has been a year of highs and lows,  I do feel that if everything that had been promised had been delivered we would be looking at a very exciting LMP1 program in 2011. It is essential now that we take what we have learned and try and create a successful program for the guys for 2011. We have had some great support from the majority of our sponsors and we hope to continue these relationships”
