Fischer Racing plans to compete with two Ford GTs in the FIA GT3-European Championship. The German team has already been successful on European racetracks with the iconic US-sportscar in the last two years. Plans for a third season in the European GT3 Championship are currently at full blast.

“We are working hard to secure a program for the FIA GT3-European Championship”, Fischer Racing team principal Hardy Fischer says. “We already contracted two drivers for one of our two Ford GTs, after our 2011 plans are finalised, we will announce the drivers. For our second Ford GT we still have two seats available.”

After two seasons on the European stage with the Ford GT, Fischer Racing belongs among the most experienced teams with the American sports car, with is not only still one of the quickest, but also one of the most reliable GT3-cars. “The last season proved that the Ford GT is still competitive and a potential race winner. During our 2010 season in the European Championship, we didn’t had any technical issues during the races, that speaks for itself. I hope that we will be able to finalise our plans within the next weeks.” The 2011 FIA GT3-European Championship kicks off in May at Portimão/Portugal.

The 2011 FIA GT3-European Championship calendar consists six rounds, four races are held together with the FIA GT1 World Championship. In August, the championship will visit Russia for the very first time. “The calendar is once again very interesting and offers demanding drivers tracks like Silverstone, Portimão or Zandvoort. The championship will also write a small piece of motorsport history, the planned race in Smolensk will be the first international automobile race in Russia.”
