Dörr Motorsport successfully entered three of their cars into the Top 40 Qualifying. Both McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3 as well as the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup will be among the forty fastest cars battling it out for the grid positions. Dörr Motorsport can be pleased with the start of the weekend after the two qualifying sessions for the 40th ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring: Three of the team’s cars will start in the qualifying session of the forty fastest cars, the other three cars qualified for the race without losing anything.

Rudi Adams in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 #69 set the fastest lap among the Dörr drivers (8:35.217 minutes), securing P30 and therefore a place in the Top 40. Peter Kox in the sister car was just as successful, securing P32, only two seconds behind. In the qualifying session on Friday morning, both drivers improved the times set by their teammates on the previous evening by a few seconds. The drivers of the McLaren #59, Arno Klasen, Kai Riemer, Henri Moser and Peter Kox, had to complete several laps during the second qualifying segment. After all, the drivers were not able to complete their two mandatory laps each in the first part of the qualifying session due to a broken oil pump.

The team of the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, Christian Gebhardt, Markus Grossmann, Niclas Kentenich and Peter Posavac, secured P38 for the “shoot out” at 6 p.m.

All times set in the previous qualifying sessions will be discarded in this qualifying session of the forty fastest cars. The drivers can do two timed laps, securing their start position for tomorrow’s race. They go out in a specific order which was determined in a raffle before the qualifying. Peter Kox in the McLaren #59 will go out 34th. Rudi Adams in the sister car intends to attack again on the Nordschleife, starting as the 12th driver.

After the qualifying session Peter Kox said, “I think we were able to improve the car again. After a qualifying session here it is always difficult to say how you are doing because the yellow phases always lead to a distorted picture. However, we reached our goal, the Top 40 Qualifying. Afterwards we will see where we are standing”.

Team Manager Uwe Isert added, “So far we can be very pleased. Our top priority was to avoid damages and to enter the Top 40 Qualifying. Now we are going to push hard”.

Best Time of the Class for the BMW Z4 M Coupé

Stefan Aust, Rainer Dörr, Rolf Scheibner and Frank Weishar will start the 40th 24-Hour Race from the first position in their category. Rainer Dörr was pleased after the qualifying session. “I had a lot of fun driving again. The car ran perfectly”. Since all four drivers had completed their two mandatory laps on Thursday evening, the team did not participate in the second part of the qualifying. Instead the team decided to exchange the engine of the BMW Z4 M Coupé as a precautionary measure in order to avoid a failure. The car will start the race from P61 in the overall standings.

Uwe Ebertz, Stefan Kenntemich, Simon Englerth and Heiko Hahn secured P10 in the closely contested GT4 category. Last year, Ebertz and Kenntemich and two other teammates demonstrated what can happen within a 24-hour race when they finished it third in their class.

The Seat Leon Supercopa with Friedrich Holoch, Christian Penno, Dirk Heldmann and Klaus Niedzwiedz in the cockpit will start the 24-Hour Race tomorrow from P81 in the overall standings, two places behind the BMW M3. The four drivers start from P7 in their class.
