Setting a lap time of 8:31.567 minutes, Pirelli test driver Rudi Adams took start position 27 for Dörr Motorsport and his teammates Chris Goodwin, Lucas di Grassi and Jochen Übler in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3. Peter Kox in the sister car was only half a second behind, securing P29. However, he was not entirely happy with his lap. “I pushed too hard and made a mistake in my second lap. Otherwise, I would probably have done better”.
Niclas Kentenich drove the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in the Top 40 Qualifying. The Porsche specialist from Neuss also competes in the Carrera Cup this weekend, one of the other events at the 40th ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race. He completed his lap around the Grand Prix track and the Nordschleife in 8:42.508 minutes, securing start position 35 for him and his teammates Christian Gebhardt, Markus Grossmann and Peter Posavac.
Team Manager Uwe Isert was relieved and confident after the last qualifying session. “I am more than happy. We did not suffer damages on any of our six cars and the three drivers who completed the Top 40 Qualifying did a great job again. The two teams of drivers in the McLaren’s are particularly well balanced, and they are setting steady lap times. We could do very well in the 24-Hour Race if nothing gets in the way”.
