On the Marc VDS Racing Team’s debut in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring it was Maxime Martin who took the start in the BMW Z4 GT3, lining up in 14th position on a grid of more than 170 cars.

“It was great to take the start today. I was a little surprised at how crazy some drivers were in the opening laps, it’s like they’d forgotten this was a 24-hour race, so it was quite hard at the start. Then I had a slow puncture in the rear tyre, so I had to pit in earlier than planned and we lost a little bit of time.”

Martin completed a double stint in the car before handing over to Markus Palttala who, after his own double stint, handed over to Bas Leinders. Martin will take back the car in the next hour, for his first stint since night fell at the Nürburgring.

“Marcus did a double stint, Bas is on his second stint now and we’re still running without any problems. Now I’m now looking forward to my first stint in the car at night.”
