By leading the pack during the initial two thirds of the race held at Monza, ProSpeed Competition proved to be a worthy new contender in the Blancpain Endurance Series. On top of that the Belgian team slotted their two Porsche 911 GT3-R into the overall Top-10. Will the Goossens-Maassen- Hennerici and Van Splunteren-Soulet-Derdaele trios be able to do even better this time around? That is the objective. It will be a fresh start on the fast Silverstone circuit. The promoters expect more than fifty teams at the start… Marc Goossens, Xavier Maassen and Marc Hennerici will defend the Alcra Flash- CMF-MoWeKo colours at the wheel of their #75 car entered in the “Pro” category. Competing in the “Pro-Am Cup”, Paul Van Splunteren, Maxime Soulet and Dylan Derdaele will be driving the #74 NEC-Soleco.
Following on from the Monza Autodromo, the Blancpain Endurance Series competitors will be taking on another motorsport monument, namely the Silverstone “Grand Prix” circuit…
Rudi Penders (Team Principal):
“In Italy we experienced almost flood conditions, so might we hope for sunshine at Silverstone? In competition, the weather forecast is merely one of many factors to take into consideration. However it is a perfect example of the complexity that a team has to take into account. It might rain, we could be faced with a heat wave… everything can change from one day to the next. Added to that the car’s tuning and set-up, the complexity of refuelling, the race strategy, the specificity of the circuit, the progression or not of our rivals, the evolution of the balance of performance…. and you then start to better define the parameters that we need to manage, race after race, to achieve a result.”
Paul Van Splunteren (Porsche 911 GT3-R #74 – “Pro-Am” Cup):
“We started off the season well. We analyzed our performance and believe that there is more to come. Since Monza the team has carried out some major test sessions. We, Maxime, Dylan, myself and the team, have identified further areas for improvement and as from Silverstone we’ll do our utmost to convert these into a podium finish. And we won’t be lacking in support thanks to the presence of NEC’s British VIP guests!”
Marc Goossens (Porsche 911 GT3-R #75 – “Pro” Cup):
“Xavier, Marc and myself have retained great memories of Monza. We now just need to hold the lead during the last two thirds of the race … and not the first two! The season has taken on its cruising rhythm. Many drivers, involved in their own national championships have now also reached their “cruising” pace. The competition will be even more intense. But then we might also come across the first signs of reliability problems. To perform well at Silverstone we need to be fast but also constant and vigilant. Both on the track and in the pits.”
