At the end of twenty-four gruelling hours of racing, ADR-Delta reached the finish of the world famous Le Mans 24-Hour Race at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France. The team’s LMP2 specification Oreca 03 Nissan driven by John Martin (AUS), Tor Graves (THL) and Jan Charouz (CZE) finished in fourteenth position – sixth in class. Fifty- six cars started the race.
ADR-Delta were making their debut in the world’s most famous motor race – the event also forming round three of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Delighted to see their car qualify on the LMP2 pole position, several small problems during the race slowed the progress of the car that finally prevented a challenge for the podium. However, the team gained much experience from their participation at Le Mans and look forward to their next FIA WEC race that takes place at Silverstone in August.
John Martin: “I have a new favourite circuit and a new favourite event. Driving at Le Mans has been an awesome experience. I really enjoyed driving a long stint taking the car from night to day. The early morning sun is something I will always remember.”
Tor Graves: “Le Mans has a great heritage and I fulfilled an ambition by competing here this weekend. I was really pleased to be asked to drive the car across the finish line at the end of the race. I even took the opportunity to fly the flag of Thailand from the cockpit as I crossed the line. This weekend has been good experience for next year.”
Jan Charouz: “Racing at Le Mans is always very special. We had a really fast car throughout the race but a number of small problems kept dropping us time and places when we couldn’t afford it to happen. I enjoyed driving for ADR-Delta here at Le Mans.”
Alan Docking, Team Principal: “The whole team worked extremely hard throughout the event. We had a fast car but sadly numerous small niggles delayed us on occasion which prevented us from challenging for a podium. For John Martin to qualify our car on pole position in LMP2 during this our first visit to Le Mans was very special.”
