This weekend, on the long circuit for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Signatech-Nissan was expected for the 80th edition of the most famous 24-hour race in the world. On its fourth participation in this legendary event, the team run by Philippe Sinault and Didier Calmels went through various mishaps to survive the 24 hours of racing, proving the reliability and competitiveness of the car and of its drivers.
Olivier Lombard, Franck Mailleux and Jordan Tresson started 25th on the grid, climbing up the field to finish the race in 11th position in the LMP2 category, having been penalised by a violent off at the Mulsanne corner, that was to keep the car in the pit garage for nearly 40 minutes. After the 24 hours of racing, the nr 23 ORECA 03-Nissan finished in the top fifteen of the overall classification.
Philippe Sinault : « I am really satisfied that our nr 23 car reached the end of the 24 hours of racing. We kept to a safety strategy rather than going on the offensive. The car was competitive, and after the tyre problems we had to adapt our strategy, most notably to adjust to the tyre wear. “
Franck Mailleux : «To finish the 24 Hours of Le Mans is always an achievement, we set off on a three-stint strategy, but due to the tyre wear we had to change our plans. However, we proved that the performance was there, and especially that the car is very reliable. »
Jordan Tresson : « This has been a dream come true ! It was incredible ! I am really proud to be part of the team . which did an incredible job ! I have learnt a lot from my team-mates. We spent more than ten days on site. Learning the track, and learning to manage the traffic, were the most difficult things. »
