Dörr Motorsport celebrated the second class victory of the season in the BMW Z4 Coupé at the 43rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy. The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 secured the fifth place in the overall standings after a race without complications.
Dörr Motorsport entered four cars in the fourth race of the season. The team from the “Klassikstadt” in Frankfurt am Main, Germany had used the four-week break for further developing several details of the McLaren MP4-12C. Setting a lap time of 8:14.451 minutes in the qualifying session of the 43rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy, Rudi Adams demonstrated that this was a step in the right direction. Adam and his team mates Henri Moser and Kai Riemer took start position 11 based on this lap time. In the first three races of the season they would have taken the pole position for the race with that time.
Fifth Place in the Overall Standings after a Race without Complications
Henri Moser drove the McLaren during the first part of the four-hour race without making any mistakes. Since finishing the race had top priority, the young Swiss was not able to keep up with the leading cars early on. Kai Riemer took over the British super sports car after seven laps and then engaged in a thrilling battle for a Top10 place with the “Frikadelli-Porsche”.
Pirelli test driver Rudi Adams was the third driver. He took over the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 after the 14th lap and used his seven laps to push forward to P6. Driving the McLaren again for the final part, Henri Moser finished the race in a well-deserved fifth place in the overall standings after more than four hours. Team manager Uwe Isert was pleased with the performance of the three drivers. “We had no problems at all throughout the race today. The car ran extremely well which makes us very happy. The modifications of the chassis were spot-on, even though we did not modify that much compared to the 24-Hour Race. Rudi Adams, Henri Moser and Kai Riemer did a great job today”. Riemer also said, “We had a lot of fun today. The fight with the Frikadelli Porsche in particular was very exciting”.
Another Class Victory for the BMW Z4 M Coupé
Once again, the drivers of the BMW Z4 M Coupé set the fastest time in their class in the qualifying session. Stefan Aust, Andreas Weishaupt and Arne Hoffmeister competed in the BMW Z4 in the fourth race of the season. Hoffmeister usually works as a mechanic at one of the two Dörr Motorsport McLaren’s and gained his first experiences in motorsports in 2010 when he competed in the 24-Hour Race with the OPC Opel Racecamp. Stefan Aust took over the BMW for the start of the four-hour race and defended the lead in his class. The other two drivers, Weishaupt and Hoffmeister, who set excellent lap times in his first stint in the BMW Z4, made no mistakes either, securing the second class victory of the season for Dörr Motorsport. The trio placed in P22 in the overall standings.
BMW M3 GT4 Finished the Race
Having set a lap time of 9:06.873 minutes in the qualifying session, Uwe Ebertz secured the third start position in the GT4 category. Ebertz also drove the M3 for the first part of the race. During an impressive first stint the black BMW pushed forward to P2 in its class, and accordingly from start position 44 to P27 in the overall standings before Siegbert Nicolaides took over the M3. Fabian Wrabetz was the third driver. Even though the trio lost a few precious minutes after a minor collision they finished the race sixth in their class after four hours.
After the successful race Team Principal Rainer Dörr said, “Finally, everything worked out perfectly today. It was the first time that we finished a race with the McLaren without any. Considering that we did not make a lot of modifications on the car after the 24-Hour Race, we can only imagine what might have been possible with today’s performance and without the crashes. Of course, we will do our best to improve and to continue closing the gap to the top group. The class victory of the BMW Z4 is also a great success for the entire team”.
