After its second place in LMP2 class at the last 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team Thiriet By TDS Racing is focusing on the ELMS championship again. Indeed, the second round will take place at Donington next weekend.
The Xavier Combet’s and Jacques Morello’s team had no time out after its very good result at Le Mans. In- deed, a part of the team totally overhauled the Oreca 03 Nissan n°46 while the other half was in Nurburgring, Germany, for the Eurocup Megane Trophy meeting. At that occasion, the very experimented and talented Tom Coronel was within the team to cover for one of the usual drivers.
Now, all the glances are being focused on the next ELMS round. After the cancellation of the Zolder’s round and one month after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, all members of the team are looking forward to competing again.
All the best LMP2 teams are awaited on the beautiful track of Donington, England, on next 14th and 15th July. In view of the high quality of the entries, the battle is going to be tough ! Because the aim of the team is still to win the Teams and Drivers championships, winning this race is important in order to strengthen its position of leader gained after its success in the first round in France. The duet of drivers remains unchanged, Mathias Beche and Pierre Thiriet will share the car.
Xavier Combet, team manager : «First of all, I would like to thank all the persons who congratulated us, sent e-mails or SMS for our result at Le Mans. All those signs of affection really touched us, we did not expect so many kind gestures. Now, we are concentrating on the Donington round. We will try to continue to forge ahead and to confirm the good results gained since the beginning of the season. We expect a relentless fight when we see the list of the entries in the LMP2 class because the level is as high as in Le Castellet. However, we are going to be on a more particular circuit. But the team has worked on all the specificities of the track of Donington to begin with the fact that it turns anticlockwise. Our objective remains unchanged : we still wish to win the ELMS title while preparing the 2013 season.»
