Having made his Asian Le Mans Series debut in Fuji two rounds ago, Aidan Read is stepping up to LMP2 machinery as he joins Algarve Pro Racing Team for the season finale at the Sepang International Circuit Malaysia (January 20 – 22, 2017).

The opportunity to step up to the LMP2 category came hot off the back of Aidan signing an enhanced management deal with BAM Motorsport Promotions, with the objective of driving and shaping his career on both a sporting and commercial level with a structured career path developed in conjunction with the specialist motorsport agency.

Having competed in the last two rounds of the championship with WINEURASIA, Aidan – who tested the #25 Ligier JSP2 Nissan in Thailand – is naturally looking forward to the new challenge.

“I’ve learned so much over the last few weeks with WINEURASIA and I also tested the Algarve LMP2 at Buriram which was a fantastic experience,” Aidan stated. “The test went very well, and I can’t wait to join Andrea Roda and Andrea Pizzitola in the #25 car.

“The physical demands of driving the LMP2 car will undoubtedly be much higher – there’s so much extra speed in the high-speed corners – but I think I have proven in my step up from Formula Masters to WINEURASIA that I can push for an entire stint without a problem.

“It’s going to be a great experience driving with the Algarve Pro Racing Team,” Aidan continued. “I’m obviously very aware of their achievements so far in the Asian Le Mans Series – second last time out – and I hope I can learn from my two new teammates and help the team secure a strong result.”

The 4H of Sepang gets underway with practice and then qualifying on Saturday 21 January and race itself on Sunday 22 January.
