Claiming the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) Pro SprintX Drivers Championship with Dion von Moltke as well as the Vice Champion in the Sportsman SprintX program with David Ostella, and a second place finish in the Team Championship, M1 GT Racing, an Audi Sport customer racing program, is exploring the options to compete in more events in 2017. Focused and determined to ensure their Audi R8 LMS is at the front of the field, the PWC SprintX and Sprint championships are of great interest to the Florida based team.

“With a revamped schedule and race weekend format recently announced by PWC, we have opened our doors and are exploring all avenues to compete in both the SprintX and Sprint championships in 2017,” explained M1 GT Racing Technical Director Remi Lanteigne. “Initially, our main focus is to return to the SprintX field and continue where we left off and want to do that first and foremost, but if the right driver in the right situation came along, we would definitely jump at the opportunity to compete in the PWC Sprint Championship as well.”

M1 GT Racing exploded onto the scene in 2016 PWC SprintX action by claiming three podium results in three event weekends as well as the pole position at the final round at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Closing the season with a dominating victory at the FARA USA Miami 500 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in November, M1 GT Racing began to hit their stride late in the season and will look to carry that momentum to 2017.

Lanteigne continued, “We knew our success was coming as we have a great group of guys that really work their tails off to ensure our car is in the best possible condition for each on track session. With our management team and talented drivers that we had in 2016, it took us a little bit to get going but once we did, we were consistently in the top three. 2017 will see new challenges for us as we reset our goals. We want to return to the SprintX program and not only win, but represent our brand and partners in the best possible manner. We also want to compete in the Sprint championship should the right opportunity come to fruition. We have several technical developments coming on the business side of M1 GT Racing and look forward to sharing that in the very near future.”
