The Conquest Endurance team heads north this weekend to Canada for the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, round 5 of the 2012 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron. The Indianapolis-based team, alongside drivers Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier Hansson, will continue their chase for their first win in the P2 category which has narrowly escaped from their hands after scoring three consecutive runner-up finishes in the last three races.

This will be the first visit for both Plowman and Heinemeier Hansson to the intimidating 2.459-mile Canadian road course, which is characterized as being one of the fastest and riskiest tracks in North America. Despite their lack of familiarity with the track, the Conquest squad feels confident in their Morgan-Nissan chassis, which has proven to excel at these high-speed configuration tracks.

Conquest Endurance is coming off their third consecutive second place finish in the P2 category, and in the last event at Lime Rock Park they came within inches of taking over the lead over the Level 5 car of Scott Tucker, but a full course caution in the closing stages of the race prevented Plowman from making the pass for victory.

The team will begin activities at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park this Friday where they will be part of a promoter test day. Official practice begins Saturday morning, and qualifying will be streamed live on ESPN3 and XBOX LIVE at 3:15pm EDT. The 2h45 min race will take the green flag Sunday at 12:00pm EDT and will be broadcast on ESPN featuring live coverage at 1:00pm EDT. It will also be streamed live on ESPN3 and XBOX LIVE and www.alms.com (for international viewers).

“I’m eager to get back in the car and finish the fight for a win in ALMS. We’ve been so close, so many times that it’s time to close the loop and assume the top step on the podium. The pace has been there plenty of times, but various reliability issues and mistakes kept us from realizing the potential. Lime Rock was a blast, but I’m looking forward to chasing a longer and more high-speed track. I really found a good flow at Le Mans with all the high-speed corners and hope to apply those lessons to a track on the ALMS circuit.”

“I’ve never been to Mosport before, but it seems to be a very fast circuit which should suit our car’s performance. I think the whole team and I are eager to get back out on track after Lime Rock, where we proved to be the fastest but fell short of the win in the race with our pitstop issue. I feel confident in my co-driver and my team that we have the ingredients to win. The only thing that has held us back have been some unfortunate mistakes and a sprinkle of bad luck. I believe that the harder you work, the luckier you get. Since Lime Rock the team has worked hard at fixing the issues we had, so I feel we are in the best position we have been in all year to get the job done.”
