he 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on 18-19 June, but the great endurance race kicks-off in reality this Sunday 5 June, with the official test day.
Joel Camathias is ‘ready to go’. The Swiss driver will be at the wheel of the KCGM Porsche 911 RSR number 78 together with Christian Ried and Wolf Henzler. Following the good results in the first two rounds of the FIA-WEC at Silverstone and Spa and the excellent cooperation among the three drivers, the Hong Kong-based squad decided in the past days to confirm the same line-up for Le Mans.
For Joel, this will be his second participation to what is arguably the most prestigious and well-known race in the world. He debuted at Le Mans in 2012, also with a Porsche, from JWA.
After the test day on 5 June, the ‘long week’ of Le Mans will start on Sunday 12 with the technical verifications and conclude with the race itself on the following weekend, 18-19 June.
Joel Camathias:
“I’m very happy that the driver line-up has been confirmed, as I hoped it would be following the excellent work done by the entire team in the opening races of the championship. For me, to be back at Le Mans is a great satisfaction. It is simply the race any driver dreams to race! All motorsports lovers know how tough it is, how magic and unique is its atmosphere and how much history it enshrines. In 2012, I felt struck by it, and I am happy to have the opportunity to live all this again. What I can tell is that I’m perfectly ready, physically and mentally, and that the whole team is very motivated to do well. We see the test day this Sunday as a valuable working session to advance in setting up the car and fine-tune all the details that are crucial in a race so special as this.”
