After months of rigorous preparations, the first points-scoring meeting of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup will get off in Monza on 24 April 2016. With Lorenz Frey, Stéphane Ortelli and Albert Costa, Emil Frey Racing will be sending an Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar to the starting line in the PRO category.
Many things happened at Emil Frey Racing in Safenwil during the past winter. Two new drivers, a new racing engineer, an extremely tight test program with the Emil Frey GT3 Jaguar racer and ambitious goals with a move up to the PRO category of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup: Are all omens for a nail-biting 2016 season.
To this end, the Jaguar XK-based GT3 racer was entirely dismantled, analyzed in the minutest of detail and then reassembled. “Our season’s preparations went according to plan,” says Technical Director, Jürg Flach. “Our true achievements will, nevertheless, only become prove in Monza when we actually size ourselves up against the competition.”
And this year, Emil Frey Racing will be up against an especially daunting array of competitors. Around 30 vehicles in the PRO Category – from Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Porsche – will be competing against a single Jaguar. For the aspired success at the meetings, everything must run like clockwork– also the drivers. Besides Lorenz Frey, the two experienced drivers Stéphane Ortelli and Albert Costa will be taking turns at the wheel of the ca. 600 hp predator, contributing their extensive know-how and experience.
“We drivers haven’t left anything to chance, and have been systematically preparing ourselves in the simulator, on the kart track, and at the gym,” explains driver and team manager, Lorenz Frey. “I can’t wait for the new season to start.”
