For many years DVB Racing has been a fixed value in both Belgian and international motorsport. The team based in Willebroek, will be back in action in 2016 in various national and international competitions. For 2016 DVB RACING’s main programme will consist out of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux, in addition to competing in the Belcar. The TCR Benelux and the Supercar Challenge are also possible arenas for the team.

In the past DVB RACING achieved various successes in Belcar, the Super Challenge and naturally the fastest one-make cup in the Benelux, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. It is in the latter competition, which underwent a solid transformation during the winter months, that DVB RACING will once again be tackling in the month of May.

Frank Thuriaux (Team Manager DVB RACING):

“In collaboration with Porsche Centre Mechelen and once again with Koen Wauters we are delighted to appear at the start. This season we will once more take on six meetings of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, but we will be doing that four times with the French Carrera Cup. In two of these meetings (FIA WEC Spa and the Spa Euro Race) we will be competing on ‘home’ ground, whereas for the two others we will be heading on down the Paul Ricard and Le Mans, with among others the French GT3 on the programme and last but not least we will also be competing twice at the Dutch Zandvoort circuit. We are entering a Porsche 991 Cup, the car for Koen Wauters, while 4 Porsche 997 will be competing during four weekends, twice together with the 991, and twice separately. Here four foreign drivers are involved.”

Koen Wauters is also delighted with his collaboration with DVB RACING:

“I believe that for me the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is the choice competition. I know the Porsche one-make cup, I know the team and together we are going out for another great season. In the Cup what appeals to me is that fact that everyone is equal before the law…no Balance of Performance, no, the driver and the engineer make all the difference. I also love sprint races, where you have to give your all and definitely do not need to take any strategy into account. Everything is closely knitted, and I reckon that with our experience the results will definitely follow and more importantly, it will be great fun! On top of that I will be competing on two brilliant French circuits, namely Paul Ricard and Le Mans, something entirely new for me.”

As with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge that is on the up, we also experienced the comeback of another legendary name last season, namely the Belcar. Here also DVB RACING will remain active, but with other makes.

“In the Belcar, which obviously includes the 24 Hours of Zolder, we will be back on track with the Ferrari 458 Challenge manned by the Thiers brothers, and where the KTM will also be back in action. The Belcar made a solid comeback and we are therefore delighted to be a part of that revival. We will make our ambitions known somewhat later, but let us say that come what may we will live up to this motorsport feast.”

Apart from these two well-defined projects, the DVB RACING team is also fully prepared to play a role in the Supercar Challenge and the TCR Benelux.

“With the right partners and in the right context we will most certainly be taking these championships into consideration, even though at this given moment there are no concrete plans.”
