VSR is proud to confirm that the team’s collaboration with Lamborghini Squadra Corse will be extended this season to include a GT3 programme in the Asian Le Mans Series. Lamborghini’s official announcement yesterday confirmed the entry of a VSR run Huracán for the 2016-17 ALMS which is scheduled to get underway at the end of October in China.

VSR began collaborating with the world famous Italian marque in 2015, running two new Huracáns in the European Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Championship. This season VSR will also feature in the Italian GT Championship and selected rounds of the 24 Hour Series.

Two of VSR’s 2015 Super Trofeo drivers were selected by Lamborghini Squadra Corse for their Driver Development Programmes. Kei Cozzolino, a member of the GT3 Junior programme will race this year in the fiercely competitive GT300 class of the Japanese Super GT Championship. Sharing the Squadra Corse supported Direction Racing entry with Adrian Zaugg, Cozzolino will make his debut this weekend at Okayama. Cozzolino’s 2015 team-mate Shinya Michimi, a member of the Young Driver Programme, will race in the North American Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Championship for Prestige Performance.

VSR also has the honour of running the Formula Junior programme for Lamborghini Squadra Corse. In 2015 Nicolas Costa and Takuro Shinohara raced for the team in the Japanese Formula 4 Championship. This season Shinohara continues in Formula 4 alongside the Korean driver Doyan Hwang whilst Nicolas Costa will step up to the Italian GT Championship where he will race a VSR Huracán.
