This weekend, Flying Lizard Motorsports returns to Road Atlanta for the next rounds on the Porsche Club of America race calendar. Customer racer Andy Wilzoch will debut the new 2016 Porsche GT3 R, proudly sporting the iconic Flying Lizard red and silver livery.

The Flying Lizard livery originally debuted on a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the American Le Mans Series in 2003, under the ownership of founder Seth Neiman. For the next decade of professional competition, the Lizard livery and Porsche went hand in hand, including from 2007 to 2012 when the team was provided factory support as a development partner of Porsche Motorsport North America. Once again a customer racing team, 2013 marked the final year a Porsche would run the now iconic livery. In 2014, the team participated in the newly formed TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, running the livery on two brand new Audi R8 LMS race cars. This will mark the first time in three years the fan-favorite design has appeared on a Porsche.

“Porsche and Flying Lizard have such a storied history together, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to show off the livery on a new car,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “We are excited that Andy chose to run our livery on his new GT3 R, and we hope our race fans are just as enthusiastic.”

Now under the ownership of long time Lizards Darren Law, Thomas Blam and Tommy Sadler, the team’s Customer Racing Program has expanded to include the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and the Porsche Club of America. While also participating in another season in PCA, Flying Lizard customer Andy Wilzoch will make his professional racing debut under the mentorship of former Lizard driver now Program Manager Darren Law, later this year in the Pirelli World Challenge GTA class driving his new Porsche GT3 R.

“This is an example of how we intend to expand our customer racing program at Flying Lizard,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “We’re proud to be racing more cars and in more series than we ever have before, offering support and services on both professional and club racing events. We are always looking to expand our club racing efforts and want to encourage anyone interested in racing with us to reach out to discuss the opportunities.”
