Italy’s Team Lazarus, which has been known in single-seater formulae for almost two decades before debuting in GT racing, today announced it is joining the International GT Open 2016 as Orange1 Team Lazarus. The Padua-based squad founded by Tancredi Pagiaro will enter a brand new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 purchased from Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse for a stellar driver line-up to be announced in the forthcoming days.

Orange1 Team Lazarus comes to the GT Open as one of the title contenders and one of the most interesting new entries.

Tancredi Pagiaro, team principal of Orange1 Team Lazarus, commented:  “Today, passion and pride are with us again, just like in the past, all thanks to a car like the Huracán GT3, the support from Lamborghini Squadra Corse and a series like the International GT Open Championship, which will enable us to race against other manufacturers”

Giorgio Sanna, head of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, added: “I want to thank Orange1 Team Lazarus for its effort regarding our motorsport projects. The GT Open series is a strategic Championship for Lamborghini Squadra Corse and I am convinced that the Team run by Tancredi Pagiaro, also thanks to his longstanding experience, will represent us the best possible way”.

Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport: “We are pleased to welcome an important team like Orange1 Team Lazarus in the GT Open Championship and see how well Lamborghini is represented in our racing series. They form a very strong package and the Huracán GT3 is one of the most interesting GT cars of the last generation. There can be no doubt that their participation in our series will add excitement and passion to the upcoming season”.
