Holden Autosport the 2015 British Endurance Champions proudly unveils its plan to move into the European Le Mans Series in 2017.
The 2015 MSA British Endurance Class Champions, Holden Autosport has today confirmed its plan to move into the European Le Mans Series in 2017. The plans will see the Holden Autosport drivers enter the Renault Sport Trophy championship where winners will be awarded a Le Mans 24 Hour LMP2 drive and a NISMO super GT test in Japan.
Every leading business and team has a clear strategy and therefore it is important that Holden Autosport communicate its strategy to the general public, said Holden Autosport Executive Director (Technical), Nick Holden.
With so many new GT3 models in the domestic British GT championship, we expect the Balance of Performance (BOP) to see large fluctuations. Holden Autosport will wait a few seasons for the BOP to stabilise and in the interim, move to support the European Le Mans Series over the next few years that will provide enhanced opportunities to our Partners and Drivers. The focus of 2016 will be to source and develop that racing platform, and if we can win another Championship in the process, all well and good!”
The European Le Mans Series (ELMS) is a European based sports car racing endurance series stimulated by the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO). The European Le Mans Series is like the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) based in the United States and Canada that has been running with ACO since 1999. The European Le Mans Series team champions and runners-up receive an automatic entry to the subsequent year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the oldest active sports car race endurance racing in the world. Since inception in 1923, it is held annually near the town of Le Mans, in France. It remains one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world and is frequently called the “Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency”.
