Preparation is everything, and hardly anywhere else more so than in motor racing. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that teams already have submitted their entries for participation in the 2017 Hankook 24H DUBAI (January 12-14, 2017). The twelfth running of the original endurance race in the Gulf region serves as the opening round of next year’s 24H SERIES powered by Hankook. “Of course, it is still early, but for this year’s race, we had to work with a waiting list, because the number of teams wanting to take part exceeded the maximum size of the field. We understand why teams are now acting really quickly to secure their place on the grid. The sooner teams submit their entries and pay the entry fee, the bigger their chances to be in the race,” says Helen Roukens on behalf of CREVENTIC. The Dutch agency is the promoter and organiser of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT).

Held for the first time in 2006, the Hankook 24H DUBAI has become one of the major international 24-hour races in the motorsport world. The excellent facilities of Dubai Autodrome and the pleasant atmosphere in the vibrant city of Dubai certainly have contributed to the increasing popularity of the event. This year’s race attracted a record field with 100 entrants and saw the debut of some impressive GT3 cars of the latest generation. Belgian team WRT scored the first-ever win for Audi in the event, making Audi the fourth manufacturer to claim outright honours in Dubai. This year’s race in Dubai also marked the debut of the TCR category as a separate class in the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook. As usual, there was a nice mix of cars, with 30 touring cars on the grid and there were entertaining battles for points and positions in all classes. For the race in 2017, the focus remains on amateur teams and drivers and again a good mix of GTs and touring cars.
