Merchant Services Racing came through the battle on the streets of Baltimore with both cars finishing in the top 5 at the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón for the Baltimore Sports Car Challenge presented by SRT. This week they take on the circuit at Virginia International Raceway.

The entire American Le Mans Series paddock has anticipated the VIR240 and the wide open circuit at Virginia International Raceway. This will be the series first appearance at the historic track. The drivers at Merchant Services racing, like every other driver in the Series, can’t wait to hit the track with the team’s Oreca Prototype Challenge cars.

Pablo Sanchez returns to MSR after a having a great run with the team at Sebring.

“We are vey glad to have Pablo back in the car,” said team principal, Brian Adler. “Also, SYD is back on board as a sponsor for this event. Given Pablo’s experience at Sebring, we are looking forward to a great race Saturday with him as our lead driver in the No. 7 car.”

“Eric Lux also joins our team for VIR,” noted Adler. “Eric brings a wealth of experience in PC cars with him. In 2011, He was part of three-way tie for Prototype Challenge championship in his first full season of ALMS competition. He and Tony Burgess have shared a seat in a P1 car this season.

Lucas Downs will join Kyle Marcelli in the No. 8 Lamex, Butterfield Farms ORECA.

With Marcelli qualifying the No. 8 car in second today (just .001 second behind the pole sitter), the team is looking for a great result from both cars in Saturday’s race aiming for 2 cars on the podium and looking to continue the momentum that has been building up over the last 3 races.

The VIR 240 at Virginia International Raceway is the penultimate round for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón Championship. The four-hour race is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 15. ESPN2′s broadcast begins at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 16. Full, live coverage starts at 2:15 p.m. ET on ESPN3.
