Following the recent successful hard fought top-level battle during the recent 24 Hours of Zolder, the outcome proved the Porsche 911 GT3-R to be a formidable competitor in endurance events. The local regulations, devoid of any intricate technical sporting aspects, gave all teams the opportunity to offer spectators a top quality spectacle. The two leading “FIA GT3″ cars were separated by a mere six seconds… after twenty-three hours of racing. A revelation. ProSpeed Competition will be doing everything within its power to repeat such a demonstration during the fifth meeting of the Blancpain Endurance Series. The event will be held on the Nürburgring circuit, on 22nd and 23rd September next. Marc Goossens and Xavier Maassen will be supporting the “local hero”, Marc Hennerici, at the wheel of the Porsche Alcra Flash-CMF- MoWeKo #75. Entered in the Pro-Am category, the 911 GT3-R #74 bearing the NEC-Remeha-Soleco colours will, as usual, be in the hands of Paul Van Splunteren, Maxime Soulet et Dylan Derdaele.
As the Nürburgring circuit is located but a mere stone’s throw from the Belgian-German border, ProSpeed Competition’s trailers will only be heading off on Wednesday evening. An advantage that all the team members will enjoy, seeing that after Le Mans and Spa, they have only just completed their third ’24 Hours’ of the season.
Rudi Penders (Team Principal): “I’m confident as the performances of the Porsche 911 GT3-R are excellent on both tracks still to be tackled on the Blancpain Series calendar. In the VLN championship on the Nürburgring, the Porsches systematically found themselves amongst the top runners. This was also the case at the Navarra circuit during the previous meeting. The Porsche has just triumphed in the GT-Tour, the French competition. Zolder, Nürburgring, Navarra, three recent and concrete examples. Should we be given the opportunity, there’s no technical reason why our cars shouldn’t be playing a leading role here.”
Marc Hennerici (Porsche 911 GT3-R #75 – “Pro Cup”): “The last meeting of the German VLN championship, held on the full circuit of this very same Nürburgring, left me overjoyed… seeing I broke my own personal lap record. I truly have full confidence in this Porsche 911 GT3-R. On top of that my experience on this track should allow the team to progress far more quickly. It goes without saying that as a regular at numerous international meetings on the Nürburgring circuit, I’m impatiently waiting for this meeting on “my” circuit.”
Dylan Derdaele (Porsche 911 GT3-R #74 – “Pro-Am Cup”): “Yes, I’m about to discover the Nürburgring circuit, but, since recently I have been able to benefit from a “supplementary” amount of driving time as allowed for “Bronze” drivers. That’s amply sufficient time to get a better idea of the track… On top of that we can take full advantage as we start working on the set-up, by sharing the data gathered with my teammates To achieve an excellent result it’s important to start the work without delay.”
