GT ace Jody Fannin has been selected as a finalist for the Aston Martin Racing Evolution Academy after completing a driver development day at Prodrive earlier this month. Alongside five other youngsters, the Surrey based star will be heading to Bahrain next weekend where he will put his skills to the test in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE, after the final round of the World Endurance Championship, in the official rookie test on 22 November 2015.
The Bahrain test will be the final step in the selection process to decide the winner of the 2015 Evolution Academy. The process started when a host of worldwide applicants were whittled down to just ten drivers, Jody being one of them. Fannin has been put through his paces in the form of fitness assessments and simulation sessions and the academy have provided him with media training and an insight to the technical and engineering side of Aston Martin Racing.
Jody’s 2015 campaign in the British GT Championship, where he enjoyed a strong end to the year with two podiums in a TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3, has set him in great standing for the Bahrain WEC test. Although he has not been out on circuit since the final round of the British GT Championship earlier this year, he is more than ready for the challenge but is under no illusion as to how tough this final test will be.
Jody Fannin – “As a young driver working my way up the sports car ladder, it has been fantastic knowing I have the backing of a manufacturer with the heritage of Aston Martin, and I’ve been made to feel part of the team. This has given me inside access to see how a world championship team operates, which is invaluable for my development as a driver. I’m really looking forward to Bahrain and can’t wait to get in the car.”
