Pasin Lathouras is pleased to announce that he has secured an entry to compete in the inaugural ‘FIA GT World Cup’, which will take place in Macau from November 19-22.
Pasin will race a Ferrari 458 GT3 for AF Corse in the FIA GT World Cup.
The FIA GT World Cup will conclude a rewarding season for Pasin which kicked off with the Daytona 24 Hours in January, which he led early on, and took in a full season in the International GT Open, where he has been right in the title fight all season, as well as including a career best victory to date in the 24 Hours of Spa (Pro-Am).
The FIA GT World Cup is an exciting new initiative that aims to bring the best sportscar drivers, teams and cars in the world together for a spectacular end of season event. As well as professional drivers there will be a succession of factory teams. It will be a showstopper of the Macau Grand Prix weekend and it all represents a huge challenge for the Thai youngster.
According to a statement issued by the FIA: “The objective of setting up the FIA GT World Cup is to create a showcase for GT manufacturers which will be the highlight of the season thanks to an exclusive format, attractive for drivers, generating considerable media coverage and a strong impact for the makes. FIA GT World Cup will become a reference event for GT drivers or manufacturers – an event that absolutely must feature among their record of achievement.”
The FIA continues: “The philosophy of this World Cup must be that of an exclusive and exceptional event. For this, the choice of the attractive and mythic venue of Macau enables manufacturers to benefit from the extraordinary image of the event while at the same time attracting prestigious drivers, the very essence of the discipline.”
This will be the third time that the 21-year-old Thai drives a ‘GT’ car at Macau, while he’s also raced on the famous Guia Circuit, which winds around the streets of Macau, in junior single seater formula earlier in his career.
Pasin Lathouras: “It’s exciting news to get an entry to the GT World Cup, it’s the perfect way to end the season and I want to thank the organisers and especially my team, AF Corse, for putting this together. I love this circuit, it’s really tough, you can’t be an inch wrong and it’s one of the great challenges in motor racing. It was great to race the Ferrari here last year and get some experience with a GT3 car at Macau and now I have to build on that. But the best drivers in the world will be here and we will be up against a lot of full factory teams so I’m going to have to work hard and try to do my best, keep it away from the walls and chase a good result.”
