The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) moves east with the sixth round taking place on Sunday 11th October in Japan. The Fuji track is one of the more challenging on the calendar and provides the opportunity for exciting racing that could shake up the WEC title battle.

The circuit, on the foothills of Mount Fuji combines high speed sections with a very technical twisty end to the lap. Therefore, car set-up is a compromise between the camber needed to maximise tyre footprint and performance through the corners but reduce the effects of this camber on the tyres on the long 1.5km straight.

Dunlop engineers have nominated the medium ‘CM747’ and medium-plus ‘CM863’ options for the LMP2 teams, all of whom have chosen to compete on Dunlop tyres. The Fuji weather is notorious for being changeable and the wet specification could easily be needed.

In the championship, the three front running cars are the KCMG Oreca and the pair of G-Drive Racing Ligiers, separated by just 18 points, with a maximum of 26 points available for pole position and the race win.

Mike McGregor, Manager Testing & Track Support, Race Design & Development

“Teams need to be careful with set-up at Fuji, particularly considering the implications on the rear tyre and looking after them during the race. The 2015 specifications are a step forward from the 2014 versions which successfully double stinted in last year’s race. Therefore, we are confident that this will help our get the right set-up for this challenging circuit”

The 6 Hours of Fuji starts on Sunday 11th October at 11am local time, (3am BST/ 4am CEST).
