The International GT Open is in Monza for its penultimate, and one of the most traditional, rounds of the season. The tempio della velocità near Milan has welcomed today teams and drivers with autumnal weather and great expectation to regard of the battle titles which enter in the crucial phase.

In the overall standings, Alvaro Parente-Miguel Ramos have a slight advantage (9 points) over Pasin Lathouras-Michele Rugolo, but the Teo Martín McLaren will have to fend-off a serious attack from the Prancing Horse cars on their home track: Ezequiel Companc-Raffaele Giammaria, the other AF Corse pair, is also still in the race for the title and Alessandro Balzan-Nicola Benucci (Villorba Corse) have not said their last word.

Today, in free practice, only the initial laps of session 1 were held on dry track, with Michele Rugolo taking the best time of the day (1.48.196) ahead of the McLaren and Giammaria, with Cameron-Griffin (AF Corse), back for the occasion, in fourth. Also back is the Balfe Motorsport Ferrari of Keen-Balfe. With the heavy rain, Parente was fastest ahead of an excellent Mino Caccia (on the Drivex Audi) and Valentino Fornaroli with the latest entry of the event: the Ferrari F458 of Italian squad MP1 Corse, shared with Gabriele Lancieri, another driver making a return this weekend.

In the afternoon, on a track progressively drying, Lathouras-Rugolo, despite a broken alternator, signed again the best time (2.00.275) ahead the Drivex Audi of Bontempelli and the surprising amateur AF Corse pair Ferrari of Mallegol-Blank.

In the GT-Am class, two AF Corse drivers, Claudio Sdanewitsch and Filipe Barreiros are split by only 4 points. Both are rejoined here by their usual team mates, Ilya Melnikov and Francisco Guedes, respectively. The German was today quicker than Lusitanian.
