The No. 16 BAR1 Motorsports Prototype Challenge car sponsored by Southwest Realty Advisors, South West Financial and The Walk (in Theaters October), takes to the track in preparation for the final event of the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Series championship. Saturday’s 18th Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta is one of the longest and toughest races on the schedule and runs .
The Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda will be aired live on Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning at 11 a.m. ET. Coverage begins on FOX Sports 2 and alternates with IMSA.com, concluding with the finish and post-race coverage beginning at 8:30 p.m. IMSA.com and the IMSA App will have live streaming, live timing and scoring, and IMSA Radio’s play-by-play.
There will also be a three-hour highlights show on FOX Sports 1 on Sunday, Oct. 4, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Driving this year’s entry will be Johnny Mowlem, Tomy Drissi, Marc Drumwright and Don Yount. Mowlem and Drissi were part of BAR1’s line up in this years successful run at The Daytona Rolex 24.
“We’ve got a good group in the car for this event,” said team owner Brian Alder. “Johnny [Mowlem] and Tomy [Drissi] were part of the squad that ran down the leader at this year’s Daytona 24. They’re both extremely capable and know how to keep a good car under them. Marc Drumwright and Don Younts both know what they have to do… run clean and run a good pace. It’s a long race and it’s paramount to be around for the last couple of hours. We’ll do well.”
Brian Alder Seeking 3rd Consecutive Prototypes Lite Championship
Alder himself has a full weekend ahead of him in the #22 TOP1 Oil Prototype Lites car. Rounds 13 and 14 for Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda will be run during the Petit Le Mans weekend. Brian and Todd Slusher will duel for the Drivers Championship, while BAR1 Motorsports and ONE Motorsports will compete for the Team Championship.
Alder, from Dublin, Ohio, is seeking his third consecutive Lites 2 Drivers Championship in the TOP1 Oil BAR1 Motorsports car. He leads Slusher by 10 points, 222-212, and will clinch the title by finishing third or better in both races.
Alder has been on a roll this summer. He has won five consecutive races, dating back to Round 8 in mid-July at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, to rally past Slusher for the Lites 2 points lead.
