Archie Hamilton returned to his former GT Open Team, SRT, with the Shipex SRT Corvette, in the Supercar Challenge at Brands Hatch this weekend. Archie, with team-mate Nicolas Vandierendonck, won both one-hour races, extending the team’s lead in the championship.

A late call saw Archie help the team in a one-off round, stepping into the car that he drove last season. After qualifying third for both races, Archie took the second stint, in race one moving up from eighth after the pit-stop and from sixth in race two to win on each occasion. It is the fourth back-to-back race win for Archie at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit after winning both races in the GT Open last year.

Archie now flies to Texas to return to the Sard Morand team to race the LMP2 Morgan in the World Endurance Championship following his debut with the team at the Nürburgring round where the squad finished fourth.

The 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas starts at 5pm local time (11pm BST) on Saturday 19th September.

Archie Hamilton: “That was a great weekend and I must thank SRT for the opporthnity. It’s good to be able to get in the car and be up to speed so quickly. I had a great season with SRT so it was good to help out and take the double win for them and for Nicolas who was great to drive with. It was always going to be tough to win with the success related time penalties at the pit-stops. Safety cars helped us a little but I was confident with the car and the track so I was able to find what I needed. It was great to hear how excited the commentators were getting in the last race when I made overtook the BMW Z4 going round the outside of Paddock Bend to take the lead.

“Now I’m focussed on the Sard Morand Morgan and trying to get on the podium after finishing fourth last time. Oli, Pierre and I worked well together in Germany, so I hope that we will get the result that I know we are capable of in the USA. With the race going into darkness it’s going to be a great event and I’m please to have my Le Mans 24 hour experience to help.”
