The Pirelli World Challenge (GT-Cup class) has only three events left in its 2015 schedule, but five very important races for ANSA Motorsports racer, Lorenzo Trefethen. This weekend, the Stars of the Pirelli World Challenge will compete in two rounds of the championship at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The weekend following the Utah race, the championship will then move to Trefethen’s backyard in Sonoma, Calif., for a double-header, before ending at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Sept. 13 for a single-race season finale.

The 2015 Supercar Grand Prix of Utah at Miller Motorsports Park is set for Aug. 21-23. Trefethen will drive the No. 13 Trefethen Family Vineyards/750 Group/BRM Chronographes/PitStop Furniture/Durango Operating/ Porsche GT3 Cup in rounds 16 and 17.

Surrounded by desert, salt lakes and high-peaked mountains, the view from the racetrack offers one of the most sensational landscape panoramas of the entire season. Trefethen knows the track. He raced there last year and is excited to return. This year, the driver from Napa, Calif., will have a coach working with him to help him find the precious tenths on the 3.048- mile, 15-turn Miller racetrack. Brandon Davis, one of the best sports-car racers in North America, will assist Trefethen, starting at the promoter test day on Thursday, all the way to race 2 on Sunday. Davis knows the track well. He is one of the consultants at the Miller-based Ford Performance Racing School.

Trefethen competed in the three rounds of the 2014 Porsche Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA at Miller Motorsports Park and scored three podium finishes, including a win in the last race.

“The Utah race weekend is going to be fun,” Trefethen said. “It’s a nice, open track, with lots of good passing opportunities. I really enjoyed the close racing with Sloan (Urry) and Brett (Sandberg) at Mid-Ohio, and I can’t wait to do it again in front of the fans in Utah.”

ANSA Motorsports has been especially busy, since the last Mid-Ohio Pirelli World Challenge race weekend. The team competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA and the Prototype Lites series at Road America, scoring multiple top-five finishes, including a podium finish in the Prototype Lites L-2 class.

ANSA Motorsports has started to work actively on its 2016 plan. Next year, ANSA Motorsports wants to continue racing in the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge and is looking to enter different classes. ANSA Motorsports became a REITER Engineering dealer and is now marketing the REITER Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 REX, the REITER Engineering SaReNi Camaro GT3, and the new KTM X-BOW GT4.

“We have ordered our first KTM X-BOW GTR (GT4) race cars,” said ANSA Motorsports Executive Consultant Emmanuel Lupe. “The first KTM X-BOW GT4 should arrive at the Miami Gardens shop early next month, and we plan to compete with the car in the GTS championship next season. Our plan is to enter multiple KTM X-BOWs next season, and we are welcoming drivers interested in competing with us in the Pirelli World Challenge. The car is amazing. It is one of the most technologically advanced sports cars of its generation, yet remains cost effective to run and maintain.”

Following a promoter test day, scheduled on Thursday, Aug. 20, the Supercar Grand Prix of Utah at Miller Motorsports Park event will start with a practice session on Friday, Aug. 21, at 10:15 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. Qualifying is set for Saturday, Aug. 22, at 9:35 a.m. Race 1 in Utah is also scheduled for Saturday at 12:45 p.m. and race 2 on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 12:30 p.m. (All MDT times).

The Supercar Grand Prix of Utah race weekend will air on CBS Sports Network Sunday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. EDT.
