New Zealand racer Earl Bamber has been named as the replacement for Austrian Klaus Bachler, who is on duty racing in the ADAC GT Masters, in the no88 Abu-Dhabi Racing Proton Porsche 911 at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring on the 28-30 August.
This will be Bamber’s third race in the WEC and the first race since he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with Porsche alongside Britain’s Nick Tandy, who will also be competing at the Nürburgring in the no47 KCMG Oreca, and Germany’s Nico Hulkenburg in the third 919 at La Sarthe.
Earl Bamber will be joining Khaled Al Qubaisi and Christian Ried in the LMGTE Am entered Porsche 911, which is currently 5th in the class title race. The New Zealander will also be racing for the team at the Lone Star Le Mans event in Austin on the 17-19 September, with Bachler due to return to the cockpit for the final three races of the 2015 season.
