The Team Russia By Barwell (TRBB) squad has confirmed the details of its entry for this year’s Blancpain Endurance Series ‘jewel in the crown’ event, the Total 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (July 25-26). The team’s BMW Z4 GT3 will be run in the Pro-Am Class of the series, with regular Blancpain drivers Leo Machitski and Jonny Cocker joining forces with the duo who contest the British GT Championship with the same Barwell Motorsport-run car, Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen.
Barwell Motorsport will run the Demon Tweeks TRBB Z4 alongside the sister Ecurie Ecosse entry, which last year had a terrific run in the Belgian 24-hour classic, claiming second in Pro-Am and seventh overall. Machitski also scored a podium finish in the 2014 race, taking the runner-up spot in the Am Cup aboard an Audi R8. This was the Russian’s second podium in the event, having scored a third place finish in GT2 in 2007 in a Porsche.
TRBB’s other regular Blancpain Endurance driver, Timur Sardarov, wasn’t scheduled to contest the Spa classic this season, but will return for the Series finale at the Nurburgring on September 20th. Together with Leo, Timur scored his first ever international podium last time out in the Paul Ricard 1000kms Blancpain round, when the Russian duo finished second in the Am Cup by a mere 6/10ths of a second after a thrilling race-long battle for the class win.
Backing for the Spa 24 Hours entry comes from Vimetco Extrusion, Vi Holding, Demon Tweeks and Mobil 1.
Mark Lemmer, Team Principal: “I am delighted that we have such a strong driver line-up in both cars for the Spa 24 Hours. Jon and Leo are both very quick around Spa, whilst Phil and Jonny are both in the prime of their careers!”
