Joel Camathias will be back this weekend to the International GT Open, a championship that he is closely linked to since 2007 and where he won the overall title twice (2007-09), for the second round of the 2015 season, which will take place at the Autódromo do Estoril, in the outskirts of Lisbon. The Swiss driver has been called by local stalwart Team Novadriver to drive their Audi R8 LMS ultra alongside César Campaniço, who is both the team principal and main driver of the Lusitanian squad.

This outing comes as a very interesting opportunity for Joel, who will drive an Audi R8 for the first time and is determined to contribute to Team Novadriver’s success in their home race.

Joel Camathias:

“I am very happy to have received this call from César Campaniço, whom I know for years, and Team Novadriver, which has an outstanding record in international GT racing, be it GT Open or Blancpain GT Series, in recent years. This is their home race, so it is important to do well. I will drive the Audi R8 LMS ultra for the first time, which will allow me to add a new car to my list, after having discovered the Aston Martin Vantage and the Mercedes SLS in my two GT Asia outings last year. Estoril is a superb track that I always liked, and I have of course a special bond with the GT Open, so I am sure it will be an exciting weekend, which may lead to new challenges!”
