Mythical and superfast track of Monza was the first event of first Blancpain Endurance Series. An stunning grid of 56 cars were placed in the Italian pit lane as a prove that this championship has a healthy future in the upcoming years due to the high interest that have teams and drivers.
High Class Racing driver Anders Fjordbach, was accompanied in this meeting by the two Italian drivers that they will be his team mates during all the rounds of the season in endurance series. By one hand, Andrea Roda who was running last season in Auto GP with good results and by other hand, Fabio Onidi who was running last year in Blancpain GT Series with a McLaren.
Sunday’s morning official Qualifying session was uncompleted for the Audi number 74, the team was running inside in the top 25 with a time of 1:49.739, but unfortunately an accident after few laps done by Fabio Onidi in which he broke two vertebras forced the organizers to stop the session under a red flag. The driver was attended by the medical crews in the circuit, discarding any other serious injury.
The team won’t participated on the Main Race some hours later, hoping a soon recovery for the Italian twenty seven years old driver.
Anders Fjordbach explained: “This weekend in Monza was positive for the team, after all. Everything was new for everybody but Andrea Roda and Fabio Ondi really impressed with his performance in his first endurance meeting with the Audi R8. We have been really unlucky with Fabio Onidi’s accident in Qualy. But thankfully, he has no more serious injuries, which it’s the best important for us. We wish him that he will get well soon!”
Next racing compromise for High Class Racing will be in British circuit of Brands Hatch (09-10/May) on the second round of Blancpain Sprint Series.
