This coming weekend the Menzo 24 Hours of Zolder is being held, the second 24-hour race in Belgium. Last year Laurens Vanthoor won the race with the Belgian Audi WRT Audi R8 LMS and similarly this year, the leader in the FIA GT Series will do everything to win the race. Vanthoor will share his Audi with record holder in the 24 Hours of Zolder, Anthony Kumpen and former winners Bert Longin and Enzo Ide.

“It goes without saying that our aim is to win”, Laurens Vanthoor commented during the presentation of the team at Grafiwrap, one of the team’s main sponsors during the 24 Hours of Zolder. “They are indeed an important partner. Grafiwrap produces self-adhesive films that embellish your vehicle and give it an exclusive look and touch. Mirrors in carbon, a matt black boot lid, a leather or carbon-look interior, the complete body in brushed aluminium, striping that changes colour depending on the viewing angle… everything is possible”, Laurens Vanthoor explains.

“Because of our intense collaboration, the teams and Grafiwrap had organized a competition for the fans. Everyone could design a special look for the Belgian Audi WRT Audi R8 LMS and finally it was Belgian fan Tom Deglas who won the competition. The car looks amazing!”

This edition of the Menzo 24 Hours of Zolder will not be remembered as the greatest in its history, but notwithstanding that Laurens Vanthoor and the WRT Team are highly motivated. “There is indeed a lack of real and strong competition”, Laurens Vanthoor admits. “Last year we had to fight Marc VDS BMW and ProSpeed Porsche, in fact the top 3 of the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series. Sadly enough, both other Belgian teams are not competing this year. But as Vincent Vosse commented during the presentation of the race this week, we will in fact be carrying out precious testing work for Audi, which is of course very important. The aim is to win the race a third time for WRT Audi and even if people say that it will be easy, I can assure you that this race is never an easy one. The track is really demanding for both car and drivers. But I’m very confident that both Audi and WRT, together with my teammates will do everything possible to produce another great victory!”
