The 2015 edition was another unlucky Dubai 24H for the GDL Racing. The San Marino-based team, at its seventh participation in the UAE race, was close to finish in the top positions before a few problems moved it back.

Dutchmen Duncan Huisman and Luc Braams – frontrunners in 2014 edition, when they were almost to claim the class win before the had stopped by an accident with two hours to go – together with Max Braams and Hannes Waimer, were steadely in the top-5 and second among the A6-AM cars till early morning, when an engine problem forced them to the pit. Eventually they recovered 13th finishing fifth in their class.

Gearbox problems afflicted with two hours to go the Porsche 997 Cup of local Bashar Mardini, Austrialian Paul Stubber, Malaysian Koeng Liam Lee and Hong Kong’s Nigel Farmer, who led the class and were for a long time 10th overall.

Good job also for the third crew of the Gianluca De Lorenzi’s squad. Liam Wee Lim and Russian Michael Spiridonov – both at their debut in a 24 Hour race – Australian John Iossifidis (who already raced at Dubai in 2014) and young Malaysian Melvin Moh scored the 10th place in the class and finished 36th out of 90 cars sharing new Porsche 991.

Next race for the GDL Racing is scheduled for mid-March at the Mugello, for the second edition of 12H of Italy, where the San Marino-based team will line up two 991s a 997 and the Mercedes.
