The University of Bolton will be unveiling the first glimpse of the Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 at Autosport International in Birmingham at 11am on Thursday January 8, with guests offered a unique opportunity to see ‘under the hood’ of a Le Mans prototype.
As the world’s first Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 owner, the University of Bolton and Ginetta are delighted to provide a global first in the unveiling of what’s ‘beneath the skin’ of the new-for-2015 racing car.
Boasting a fully carbon monocoque, the stripped down racer can be seen with its workings – including the roll cage and suspension – fully exposed, in order to highlight the engineering partnership between the University of Bolton and Ginetta Cars.
Students of the University Of Bolton’s Centre for Advanced Performance Engineering will be preparing and racing the Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 car as part of the University’s in-house racing team, RLR Msport during the 2015 European Le Mans series.
To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson will be on the University Of Bolton Autosport International stand (7120) alongside University of Bolton Vice Chancellor, Professor George Holmes to deliver a short presentation and answer any questions from 11am on Thursday January 8. The car will remain on display throughout the four day event.
Professor Holmes said:“Advanced Performance Engineering at Bolton is a unique offer from a UK university. Only our Advanced Performance Engineering students have access to work on a Le Mans race team and as a result of our partnership with Ginetta they will now be working on this exciting new LMP3 car.”
The University is the first in the UK to have an in-house, fully functioning racing team on a university campus, and students in the Centre for Advanced Performance Engineering gain experience in the classroom, racing car workshop and on the racetrack.
As part of the relationship between the University and Ginetta internships in design and aerodynamics will be offered to students at their Leeds headquarters.
Ginetta will have a futher two stands at Autosport International, with the Championships team based on stand 2720, whilst Ginetta G40 passenger laps are available for £15pp in the Adrenaline Zone, located between exhibition hall and live action arena.
