TRG-AMR North America is proud to announce that the rising European GT racing star Christina Nielsen has joined the team for the entire 2015 Pirelli World Challenge GT season. Nielsen first competed in World Challenge competition at Sonoma Raceway this past August, securing a podium position in her first weekend with the series.
Christina started her racing career in 2007 with karting followed by various European formula car series including the ADAC Formula Masters. After that it was on to Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and then onto ADAC GT Masters, followed by Porsche GT3 Cup Middle East and Europe. Chrisitina is competing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship with TRG-AMR in a V12 Vantage GT3 and has been a top competitor in the Porsche GT3 Cup. Nielsen jumped at the chance to drive in the rapidly expanding and competitive Pirelli World Challenge GT class in 2015 with TRG-AMR.
Winter season testing begins for the team immediately, starting with a full three-day shakedown at Sebring International Raceway on November 21-23. This is one of the major testing opportunities in the off-season and the team will be evaluating qualified drivers for the upcoming year, as well as shaking down both the V8 Vantage GT4 and V12 Vantage GT3.
Christina Nielsen, TRG-AMR Team Driver: “I’m so excited to be joining TRG-AMR’s Pirelli World Challenge program for 2015 and am really fortunate we were able to put this great program together. This allows us to immediately start focusing on working in one direction, learning the team, chemistry, and the tracks – and of course the V12 Vantage GT3 – one of the strongest options in the field right now! The team has proven their speed and their results speak for themselves. I have no doubt that we can turn this into a real run for a championship next year. It’s now time for some hard work and at COTA the fun truly begins.”
Kevin Buckler, CEO, TRG-AMR North America: “We are really excited to have signed Christina for the entire Pirelli World Challenge GT season. She is the real deal. She was able to pull off a fantastic podium finish at Sonoma earlier this year in GTA – her first time racing with the series. Between that, testing with us at multiple tracks, running so strong at Petit Le Mans and giving her 100%, she has the entire team behind her. Christina is very marketable with our partners and sponsors and we’ve already had several companies step up and join the team. Even more to follow at our Partner Summit and accompanying dinner at the International Motorsports Center in Daytona later next week. We’ve gotten a great group of interested partners, sponsors, and others intrigued by the growing world of sportscar racing and our turnout has been higher than expected! This is going to be an incredibly exciting season all around. Sports car racing has never been hotter than it is right now and we want to continue to lead the charge.”
