Having been in GT4 title contention in the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship, British GT4 drivers Devon Modell and Andrew Jarman will test the TF Sport’s potent Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 on Tuesday (12 August).
Announced as an Aston Martin Racing Partner Team earlier this year, TF Sport began its first full-time assault on the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this season, and the team currently lie second in the GT4 title challenge.
The duo’s success has warranted a test with the team’s 600bhp Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, which was raced to victory in the International GT Open at Silverstone last month.
“I’m really looking forward to the test,” said Jarman. “There will be some noticeable differences from the GT4, such as the sequential gearbox and more power, but having driven a Vantage GT2 at Fuji International Speedway earlier in the year and been in the simulator with a GT3, I’m hoping to pick it up fairly quickly. The GT3 is everything you want the GT4 to be.
Jarman also added that the intention of the test was to prepare for racing in GT3 next year.
“I’m heading into the test relaxed, as it’s about learning the car and not putting in a best lap time. The plan is to be racing in the GT3 class next year, so this test will be a great taste of what the future holds.”
“It will be my first time behind the wheel of the V12 Vantage GT3,” said Modell. “I know it’s going to be a lot faster than the current GT4 me and Andrew (Jarman) race, so I’m heading into the test very open-minded. I’m looking to gain experience most importantly, and then go from there.”
TF Sport Director, Tom Ferrier, said: “Both guys have done really well in GT4, and to be second in the championship after putting such a late deal together is fantastic for everyone. Andrew (Jarman) and Devon (Modell) both want to progress up the ranks of sportscar racing and naturally GT3 is the next step, so it makes sense to get them into it as early as possible and give them the best chance for next year.”
