Matt Griffin will join Pasin Lathouras in the #29 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia for the penultimate round of the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship, with regular team-mate Richard Lyons unavailable.

Griffin joins Lathouras as an experienced sportscar racer, having driven in series such as the 24 hours of Le Mans, the World Endurance Series and the Blancpain Endurance Series.

For the experienced Irishman, the chance to race in the Ferrari was a chance he could not turn down, describing the opportunity to drive the 458 Italia around a Grand Prix circuit like Brands Hatch as ‘fantastic.’

Not only is the choice of car appealing but so is Brands Hatch, a track that Griffin has had success at before.

“I’ve got a good history at Brands Hatch,” said Griffin. “I’ve won a couple of races there and I’ve had pole there a few times. In fact, the last time I was there in British GT I was on pole for the race.”

Griffin joins the series and keeps his record of appearing in a round of British GT every year since 2003 intact, with the driver keen to keep the run going.

Ahead of the race, Griffin believes his partnership with Lathouras can bring success.

“We have a good chance at Brands in the Ferrari, said the Irishman. “To get a podium there would be a great result for us.”

His team-mate Pasin Lathouras lacks the British GT experience of Griffin, but has enjoyed a strong debut season nonetheless.

Approaching the race, Lathouras has taken 53 points in the Ferrari, with his best result coming at the three hour race at Silverstone where the Thai driver took a fifth place finish.

Lathouras has also been consistent in the series, with points picked up in all rounds aside from Rockingham and the first of the two Snetterton sprints.

The Thai driver’s British GT debut season sees him currently in seventh, and a strong result alongside his new team-mate could see the Ferrari driver into the top five as the season draws to a close.
