Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team have finished on the podium of the International GT Open during race two held at Hungaroring, even in the most unlikely circumstances. However the driver of Kurdish descent got the most out of his Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 entered by Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani. There are very experienced and well-known international drivers but Tutumlu proved to be a reference among them once again.

On this occasion his teammate Maxime Soulet started today and his first stint was pretty good. Belgium ́s driver overtook four cars within no time and was running in third place. Shortly before his pit-stop, Soulet was passed by José Manuel Pérez-Aicart. When Tutumlu was already driving the American muscle car, in second place, he lessened the advantage for the leader Viacheslav Maleev. When the driver racing under the banner of Kurdistan was less than two seconds behind Maleev, this spun and Tutumlu took the lead. But his tires were already destroyed by then and he was unable to keep at bay Miguel Ramos. But anyway his podium was a great reward for him.

“I have done my best but it was impossible. Finally Ramos overtook me. We decided not to change our tires when pitted but at the end our tires were destroyed. Further, our left-side tires were punctured and on the right handers the car was very difficult to handle”, Tutumlu stressed. Nevertheless, he highlighted that “the BoP needs to change, because Ferraris are much faster than other cars and we have limited opportunities against them. At Silverstone, in mid-July, our goal is to win at least once. We think it is an affordable target if the car doesn ́t have mechanical issues and we make no mistakes. We are happy at Barzani Racing Team after this weekend but we want to keep improving if possible”.
