The ”Art Car by ProSpeed Competition“ line warmly welcomes Triskell, a personal interpretation of a Celtic symbol providing a unique appearance to the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 in the hands of François Perrodo, of Breton origin, the key player at these 24 Hours of Le Mans (FIA WEC). Tryskell is ProSpeed Competition’s fifth artistic livery in motorsport. Designed by the Belgian graphic artist Loïc Poncelet, the man who created the iBird, Tryskell is a personal and colourful vision of Brittany (France), taking in water, fire and earth, the three “legs” of the triskell. Tryskell will be entrusted to François Perrodo (FRA), Emmanuel Collard (FRA) and Marcus Palttala (FIN). She will be unveiled on Monday 9th June, at 16.10hrs on the Place de la République, during the unavoidable scrutineering for the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2014.

Tryskell is ProSpeed Competition’s fifth artistic livery in motorsport. The aficionados of super cars will no doubt recall the “Lightning McQueen #95”, glorified in the race by the talented rally driver François Duval during the 24 Hours of Spa 2006, the unforgettable “Pink Pig” revisited for the 24 Hours of Zolder (2006), the “Diamond’s Car Is Forever” (24 Hours of Spa 2008) not forgetting the “iBird”, the Art Car of reference of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011 edition.

Triskell is a symbol representing three human legs suggesting the symmetry of a cyclic group. Having appeared in various cultures and at different periods, it is considered to be an important characteristic of Celtic art during the La Tène era (Vth-11th century BC). In 1920 it reappeared in Brittany, culture that today links it to François Perrodo’s origins, the lead driver of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75 entered by ProSpeed Competition in the FIA WEC, the World Endurance Championship. The revival of the Breton music, under the influence of Alan Stivell in the ‘70s greatly contributed to popularising the symbol.

Loïc Poncelet (Graffiti Research – Designer)

“I wanted Triskell to be a clear and legible artwork whilst at the same time conserving the complexity of its Celtic theme. It’s comprised of guidelines, with an emphasis on explicit details. It also calls to mind the graphic part of an aerial reading, this developed by Porsche Motorsport. Triskell is a far more personalised interpretation and highly coloured, following in the colours of this beautiful Brittany region. Triskell and its three facets – water, fire and earth – offer a swirl of shades and textures steered by modern and dynamic graphics. François Perrodo has given us the opportunity to conjure up a great journey. Hoping that his own, as also that of his teammates Emmanuel and Markus is equally great!”

Rudi Penders (ProSpeed Competition Team Principal)

“The graphic lines of the ProSpeed cars, always recognisable regardless of our sports’ programmes, remains a constant in which we will continue to invest. However continuity does not prevent us from asserting our creativity. An athlete is an aesthete of performance, proof that competition provides a short cut towards the universe of Beauty and the Beautiful. As with iBird, Triskell is a project supported by the entire ProSpeed Competition team. We would be proud to offer the spectators, television viewers and internet surfers the most beautiful car of these 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
