A new signing in motorsport could hardly be more prominent: Jaime Alguersuari, ex-Formula 1 driver at Toro Rosso, will be competing for ROWE RACING. The 24-year old Spaniard will already be on the grid for the next ADAC GT Masters round at Lausitzring (23-25 May, 2014). It will be a triple premiere for the driver from Barcelona: next to his debut for the German team, he will also be racing a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 for the first time in his maiden ADAC GT Masters outing.

With Jaime Alguersuari’s signing, ROWE RACING also expands its involvement in the super sports car league: next to the SLS AMG GT3 driven by Maro Engel (Monaco) and Jan Seyffarth (Germany), the team will contest the balance of the season with a pair of gullwing sports cars. Alguersuari will be sharing driving duties with ROWE RACING driver Nico Bastian (Germany).

“It is great that we have been able to sign a top-class driver like Jaime Alguersuari. It speaks for our team, but also for the ADAC GT Masters, that Jamie has decided to race here. Last week, Jamie completed a test with our SLS AMG GT3 and he did very well right from the start. From that point of view, the decision to run a second car was easy. Jamie is not only a great asset to our team, but also a valuable addition for the entire series,” ROWE RACING’s team principal, Hans-Peter Naundorf says.

During the six remaining race weekends of the 2014 season, Alguersuari and Bastian will be racing the SLS AMG GT3 with starting number 22. Every event includes two races of 60 minutes each with a mandatory driver change around the halfway mark. As a duo, Alguersuari / Bastian are eligible to score points in the drivers’ standings and the teams’ classification, in the latter ranking together with Engel / Seyffarth in ROWE RACING’s sister car.
