The Porsche Team took the Le Mans protoype 919 Hybrid for a final long distance reliability check in Aragon, Northern Spain. During the three-day race simulation programme a total of 6009 kilometres were covered. All six LMP1 drivers were on duty and shared a single car – Romain Dumas (France), Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Marc Lieb (Germany), normally the crew of car no. 14, and the sister car’s driver line-up of Timo Bernhard (Germany), Brendon Hartley (New Zealand) and Mark Webber (Australia). The weather conditions were ideal at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragón and the team also did some night running. Wolfgang Hatz, Board Member for Research and Development, was at the track for the final test before Le Mans together with Fritz Enzinger, Vice President LMP1.

Team Principal Andreas Seidl: “So shortly before our first 24-hour race, of course, we have focussed on the car’s reliability. With the experience from previous testing and the first two WEC races, we had made modifications which proved to be the right ones. At the same time, we were able to discover new weaknesses, which we will also now try to fix. The coming two weeks will be used to prepare the two race cars and their spare parts for the pre-race test on 1st June in Le Mans. Furthermore, we will keep practicing all race specific procedures, especially pit stops.“
