French squad Signatech Alpine has signed a contract with Dunlop Motorsport for the supply of tyres for its European Le Mans Series (ELMS) campaign.
The team will compete on Dunlop tyres at the forthcoming round of the series at Imola this coming weekend in addition to the remaining ELMS rounds and the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Dunlop’s endurance focus for 2014 is on supplying LMP2 class entries. In the ELMS, the LMP2 category is the fastest class in the event. The high downforce nature of the class vehicles helps Dunlop gain knowledge that is cascaded to other ranges and is particularly valuable to Dunlop because of the open tyre competition and the range of chassis and engine combinations.
The addition of the Alpine A450 chassis now brings the total number of manufacturers supplied by Dunlop in the European Le Mans Series to four with Oreca, Zytek and Morgan also competing.
Philippe Sinault, Team Manager Signatech Alpine: “I am glad to work again with Dunlop, we have already partnered with them in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and have won a good many races and titles together. They are very successful partners, we will endeavour to meet their expectations. This will not be easy at Imola as we do not yet have the optimal understanding of the 2014 tyres range.”
Jean-Felix Bazelin, General Manager, Dunlop Motorsport Europe: “We are very pleased that Signatech Alpine has decided to come to us for their tyres and welcome them as a Dunlop partner. In addition to our tyres, Signatech will receive the high standard of customer support that Dunlop provides and we will be working with the team at the track at Imola to get the best possible performance for them, both this weekend and going forwards. We look forward to working with the Alpine chassis and including the data gathered into our next evolutions of the LMP2 tyres.”
