In spite of adverse weather conditions, Jan Seyffarth (Germany) and Maro Engel (Monaco) again showed a good performance in ROWE RACING’s second outing. On Saturday, the duo finished in 19th place. In the second race of the weekend on Sunday, they finished a strong tenth and thus again scored points in the second ADAC GT Masters round.

On the Dutch North Sea coast at Zandvoort, storm and heavy rain marked the entire race weekend and thus catered for an action-packed weekend of racing in the super sports car league. As a result, the qualifying sessions had to be interrupted and even postponed several times.

ROWE RACING’s team principal Hans-Peter Naundorf: “This was quite a tough weekend. All teams had to cope with the extremely bad weather. Nevertheless, we managed to show a solid performance with which we are happy. Unfortunately, we again lacked the necessary bit of luck in the races. In the first race, we lost valuable positions following a spin and the result in the second race could have been significantly better, too. However, we already achieved a considerable improvement of our performance compared to the races at Oschersleben and we were able to make consistent progress throughout the weekend. It was only just the second ADAC GT Masters event, but I think we can already say that we have more or less arrived in the series.”

RACE 01, Saturday, 10 May, 2014
The qualifying sessions for the two one-hour races at the 4.320 kilometres long dune circuit of Zandvoort were scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon. At that time, it had already become clear that bad weather would make its mark on the race weekend. Heavy rain caused qualifying to be interrupted several times and the session couldn’t be restarted after another red flag. As a result, Jan Seyffarth only ended up 22nd on the starting grid for the race on Saturday. In the race itself, both drivers worked their way up in an impressive manner, bringing the gullwing with starting number 23 as high up as 13th. A spin with five minutes remaining, however, prevented a better classification than 19th place.

RACE 02, Sunday, 11 May, 2014
Qualifying for the second race, postponed to Saturday, was again stopped early. This time, however, the ROWE RACING team benefited from it, resulting into eleventh place for Maro Engel on the starting grid for the race on Sunday. Like in the race on Saturday, heavy rain dominated the race once again. Thus, the German team’s gullwing sports car only just could avoid a collision with an opponent after the start of the race. An accident could be avoided, but it cost the team nine valuable places. In the course of the race, Maro Engel and his team mate worked their way up again and secured tenth place to score valuable points for the team once again.

The next race for ROWE RACING in the ADAC GT Masters will take place at the Lausitzring from 23 till 25 May. At the 4.534 kilometres long track in the eastern part of Germany, the teams will complete two races of one hour each again.
