The first out of five races in the 2014 European Le Mans Series was held today in Silverstone. On the track close to Northampton the endurance race over four hours was won in the overall classification by the Nissan-powered Morgan driven by Badey/Gommedy/Thiriet. In the “LM”-GTE class victory went to the Ferrari 458 from AF Corse raced by Cameron/Griffin/Rugolo, ahead of the 458 from SMP Racing driven by Bertolini/Shaitar/Zlobin. The first car from Kessel Racing crossed the line eleventh in its class with Broniszewski/Piccini, while thirdteenth place amongst the LM- TE cars went to the other Ferrari 458 GT2 driven by Kemenater/Cressoni. While both cars had an excellent start from the positions gained in the qualifying in the morning (5th position in its class for Kemenater/Cressoni and 8th for Broniszewski/Piccini) they immediately find themselves in fierce duels with the competitors, who will later end up on the podium. Both cars had some technical problems during the four hours, which seriously slowed them down and in the end were responsible for their final results. Now, with the race in Britain filed, Kessel Racing is already thinking ahead for the next appointment in the European Le Mans Series, which will be held on 18 May in Imola, when the team has another event going on: the second round of the Ferrari Challenge Europa set on the same date in Mugello in Tuscany.
