8Star Motorsports plans to return to the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype class later in 2014, fielding a Ligier JS P2 Coupe with a still-to-be-determined powerplant.

“The car’s ordered, and our plan is to run the final three races,” said team owner Enzo Potolicchio. “We are currently waiting for the car to be homologated, and we hope to have it delivered right after Le Mans [in June].”

Potolicchio said the chassis will be homologated with three engine options – Honda HPD twin-turbo V-6, BMW Judd HK or Nissan VK45.

“Le Mans will give me good feedback [regarding engines],” he added.

OAK Racing, which shares paddock and pit space with 8Star at TUDOR United SportsCar Championship events, will debut the Ligier JS P2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14. OAK’s French-based parent team – Onroak Automotive – recently tested the car at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit, running 60 problem-free laps with the Nissan-powered prototype.
