GT Sport has today announced measures that will make the International GT Open even more attractive for amateur drivers and will entry into force as from the first race of 2014. The changes will bring the race track time per event up to 350 minutes, almost 6 hours.

The measures include:

15 more minutes of free practice for Amateur drivers (with Silver or Bronze FIA status)

This period will be added at the end of each free practice session of 60 minutes. The start of this extra time will be duly signaled by officials with a “Only Amateur drivers” panel and screen communications and teams will be responsible to implement the driver change, if applicable;

- Race 2 on Sundays will see its duration extended from the current 50 minutes to 60 minutes maximum

The measures, as explained above, will be in place for the first rounds (Nürburgring, Algarve, Jerez and Hungaroring). For the following four rounds, given the characteristics of the tracks, the measures will be defined according to fuel and tire consumption, and will be communicated in due course. It is to be noted that these measures do not impact on the existing regulation on maximum number of tires and on the refueling ban for Race 2 on Sundays.
