Aston Martin Racing’s Jonny Adam will return to Asia to race in the World Endurance Championship at Shanghai next weekend (November 8-9) – and is looking for clear conditions to allow him to show that he can compete with the best in the business.

Adam’s previous outing in the Vantage V8 GTE alongside Jamie Campbell-Walter and Stuart Hall in Japan last month was a stop-start affair thanks to the deluge that washed out the event in Fuji.

Despite the final classification showing the trio to have finished second in class and having extended the #96 car’s championship lead, like the rest of the field Adam was left frustrated at not being able to race at full pace.

“Fuji was a great event despite the weather and it was nice for me to race in a world championship again. It was the right call to red flag and stop the race, as both Prototypes and GT cars were struggling with the conditions even under safety car. I really enjoyed driving the V8 Vantage GTE again, and despite limited track time got used to the car quickly. The circuit itself was fantastic and the passion for motorsport from the Japanese fans was overwhelming”

Since returning from Fuji Adam has been nominated as a candidate for Autosport’s National Driver of the Year award alongside the likes of Jason Plato, Gordon Shedden, 2013 BTCC title-winner Andy Jordan and Nick Tandy.

Now, having been granted another opportunity to race with the works squad, Adam’s attention is on the penultimate WEC round in Shanghai where he hopes favourable conditions will allow him to show what he is capable of against world class opposition.

“I have to give a massive thank you to Roald Goethe and everyone at AMR for the opportunity to race the #96 car again in Shanghai. The circuit suited the Aston very well in 2012, and it was possibly the strongest circuit for the car. All three of us have been able to get good preparation done in the simulator at Base Performance, and we’ll be working closely with the engineers to ensure we have the best strategy for extending the leads held in both the GTE AM drivers and teams championships.”
